And these are the sons of Israel: Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, and Zabulon,

The sons of Juda: Her, Onan and Sela. These three were born to him of the Chanaanitess the daughter of Sue. And Her the firstborn of Juda, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he slew him.

And Caleb the son of Hesron took a wife named Azuba, of whom he had Jerioth: and her sons were Jaser, and Sobab, and Ardon.

(From Hesron’s son Caleb, through Azuba and Jerioth, came Jaser, Sobab and Ardon.

Cumque mortua fuisset Azuba, accepit uxorem Caleb Ephratha, quæ peperit ei Hur.

And when Azuba was dead, Caleb took to wife Ephrata: who bore him Hur.

On Azuba’s death Caleb married Ephratha and begot Hur,

Porro Hur genuit Uri, et Uri genuit Bezeleel.

Post hæc ingressus est Hesron ad filiam Machir patris Galaad, et accepit eam cum esset annorum sexaginta: quæ peperit ei Segub.

And afterwards Hesron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Galaad, and took her to wife when he was threescore years old: and she bore him Segub.

Hesron, at the age of sixty, took a second wife, the daughter of Machir, from whom came Galaad; and she bore him a son called Segub,

Sed et Segub genuit Jair, et possedit viginti tres civitates in terra Galaad.

And Segub begot Jair, and he had three and twenty cities in the land of Galaad.

Cepitque Gessur et Aram oppida Jair, et Canath, et viculos ejus sexaginta civitatum: omnes isti filii Machir patris Galaad.

And he took Gessur, and Aram the towns of Jair, and Canath, and the villages thereof, threescore cities. All these, the sons of Machir father of Galaad.

took Gessur, Aram, Jair’s Villages, and Canath with its sixty townships …. All these were sons of Machir, father of Galaad.

Cum autem mortuus esset Hesron, ingressus est Caleb ad Ephratha. Habuit quoque Hesron uxorem Abia, quæ peperit ei Assur patrem Thecuæ.

And when Hesron was dead, Caleb went in to Ephrata. Hesron also had to wife Abia who bore him Ashur the father of Thecua.

It was after Hesron’s death that Caleb mated with Ephratha. Hesron had another wife called Abia, that bore him a son, Ashur, father of Thecua. )

And the sons of Jerameel the firstborn of Hesron, were Ram his firstborn, and Buna, and Aram, and Asom, and Achia.

And the name of Abisur’s wife was Abihail, who bore him Ahobban, and Molid.

Filii autem Nadab fuerunt Saled et Apphaim. Mortuus est autem Saled absque liberis.

And the sons of Nadab were Saled, and Apphaim. And Saled died without children.

Filius vero Apphaim, Jesi: qui Jesi genuit Sesan. Porro Sesan genuit Oholai.

this Epha was a daughter of Johaddai, whose other children were Regom, Joathan, Gesan, Phalet, Epha and Saaph.

And Maacha the concubine of Caleb bore Saber, and Tharana.

Genuit autem Saaph pater Madmena Sue, patrem Machbena et patrem Gabaa. Filia vero Caleb fuit Achsa.

And Saaph the father of Madmena begot Sue the father of Machbena, and the father of Gabaa. And the daughter of Caleb was Achsa.

Fuerunt autem filii Sobal patris Cariathiarim, qui videbat dimidium requietionum.

And Sobal the father of Cariathiarim had sons: he that saw half of the places of rest.

Filii Salma, Bethlehem, et Netophathi, coronæ domus Joab, et dimidium requietionis Sarai:

The sons of Salma, Bethlehem, and Netophathi, the crowns of the house of Joab, and half of the place of rest of Sarai.

From Salma, besides Bethlehem, come the Netophathites, Ataroth, Beth-Joab, and the Saraites who are the other half of the Manahatthites;

cognationes quoque scribarum habitantium in Jabes, canentes atque resonantes, et in tabernaculis commorantes. Hi sunt Cinæi, qui venerunt de Calore patris domus Rechab.

And the families of the scribes that dwell in Jabes, singing and making melody, and abiding in tents. These are the Cinites, who came of Calor (Chamath) father of the house of Rechab.

the clans, too, of the Sopherites at Jabes, the Tirathites, Simeathites, and Suchathites. These were Cinites that came from Emath, father of the family of Rechab. )
