| Alleluja, reversionis Aggæi et Zachariæ. | (Alleluia.) | Alleluia, of the returning of Aggeus and Zacharias. |
| 1 Beatus vir qui timet Dominum: in mandatis ejus volet nimis. | 1 A blessed man is he, who fears the Lord, bearing great love to his commandments. | 1 Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord: he shall delight exceedingly in his commandments. |
| 2 Potens in terra erit semen ejus; generatio rectorum benedicetur. | 2 Children of his shall win renown in their country; do right, and thy sons shall find a blessing. | 2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed. |
| 3 Gloria et divitiæ in domo ejus, et justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi. | 3 Ease shall dwell in his house, and great prosperity; fame shall ever record his bounty. | 3 Glory and wealth shall be in his house: and his justice remaineth for ever and ever. |
| 4 Exortum est in tenebris lumen rectis: misericors, et miserator, et justus. | 4 Good men see a light dawn in darkness; his light, who is merciful, kind and faithful. | 4 To the righteous a light is risen up in darkness: he is merciful, and compassionate and just. |
| 5 Jucundus homo qui miseretur et commodat; disponet sermones suos in judicio: | 5 It goes well with the man who lends in pity, just and merciful in his dealings. | 5 Acceptable is the man that sheweth mercy and lendeth: he shall order his words with judgment: |
| 6 quia in æternum non commovebitur. | 6 Length of days shall leave him still unshaken; men will remember the just for ever. | 6 because he shall not be moved for ever. |
| 7 In memoria æterna erit justus; ab auditione mala non timebit. Paratum cor ejus sperare in Domino, | 7 No fear shall he have of evil tidings; on the Lord his hope is fixed unchangeably. | 7 The just shall be in everlasting remembrance: he shall not fear the evil hearing. His heart is ready to hope in the Lord: |
| 8 confirmatum est cor ejus; non commovebitur donec despiciat inimicos suos. | 8 Patient his heart remains and stedfast, quietly he waits for the downfall of his enemies. | 8 his heart is strengthened, he shall not be moved until he look over his enemies. |
| 9 Dispersit, dedit pauperibus; justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi: cornu ejus exaltabitur in gloria. | 9 Rich are his alms to the needy; still his bounty abides in memory. The Lord will lift up his head in triumph; | 9 He hath distributed, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever and ever: his horn shall be exalted in glory. |
| 10 Peccator videbit, et irascetur; dentibus suis fremet et tabescet: desiderium peccatorum peribit. | 10 ungodly men are ill content to see it. Vainly they gnash their teeth in envy; worldly hopes must fade and perish. | 10 The wicked shall see, and shall be angry, he shall gnash with his teeth and pine away: the desire of the wicked shall perish. |
