Alleluja. |
Alleluia. |
(Alleluia.) |
1 Confitebor tibi, Domine, in toto corde meo, in consilio justorum, et congregatione. |
1 I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; in the council of the just, and in the congregation. |
1 All my heart goes out to the Lord in praise, Before the assembly where the just are gathered. |
2 Magna opera Domini: exquisita in omnes voluntates ejus. |
2 Great are the works of the Lord: sought out according to all his wills. |
2 Chant we the Lord’s wondrous doings, delight and study of all who love him. |
3 Confessio et magnificentia opus ejus, et justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi. |
3 His work is praise and magnificence: and his justice continueth for ever and ever. |
3 Ever his deeds are high and glorious, faithful he abides to all eternity. |
4 Memoriam fecit mirabilium suorum, misericors et miserator Dominus. |
4 He hath made a remembrance of his wonderful works, being a merciful and gracious Lord: |
4 Great deeds, that he keeps still in remembrance! |
5 Escam dedit timentibus se; memor erit in sæculum testamenti sui. |
5 he hath given food to them that fear him. He will be mindful for ever of his covenant: |
5 He, the Lord, is kind and merciful. In abundance he fed the men who feared him, keeping his covenant for ever. |
6 Virtutem operum suorum annuntiabit populo suo, |
6 he will shew forth to his people the power of his works. |
6 Lordly the power he shewed his people, |
7 ut det illis hæreditatem gentium. Opera manuum ejus veritas et judicium. |
7 That he may give them the inheritance of the Gentiles: the works of his hands are truth and judgment. |
7 making the lands of the heathen their possession. No act but shews him just and faithful; of his decrees there is no relenting. |
8 Fidelia omnia mandata ejus, confirmata in sæculum sæculi, facta in veritate et æquitate. |
8 All his commandments are faithful: confirmed for ever and ever, made in truth and equity. |
8 Perpetual time shall leave them changeless; right and truth are their foundation. |
9 Redemptionem misit populo suo; mandavit in æternum testamentum suum. Sanctum et terribile nomen ejus. |
9 He hath sent redemption to his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever. Holy and terrible is his name: |
9 So he has brought our race deliverance; to all eternity stands his covenant. Unutterable is his name and worshipful; |
10 Initium sapientiæ timor Domini; intellectus bonus omnibus facientibus eum: laudatio ejus manet in sæculum sæculi. |
10 the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding to all that do it: his praise continueth for ever and ever. |
10 vain without his fear is learning. Wise evermore are you who follow it; yours the prize that lasts for ever. |
