Psalmus David.
Dixit Dominus Domino meo: Sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimicos tuos scabellum pedum tuorum.

A psalm for David.
The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.

(Of David. A psalm. )
To the Master I serve the Lord’s promise was given, Sit here at my right hand while I make thy enemies a footstool under thy feet.

Virgam virtutis tuæ emittet Dominus ex Sion: dominare in medio inimicorum tuorum.

The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies.

The Lord will make thy empire spring up like a branch out of Sion; thou art to bear rule in the midst of thy enemies.

Tecum principium in die virtutis tuæ in splendoribus sanctorum: ex utero, ante luciferum, genui te.

With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee.

From birth, princely state shall be thine, holy and glorious; thou art my son, born like dew before the day-star rises.

Juravit Dominus, et non pœnitebit eum: Tu es sacerdos in æternum secundum ordinem Melchisedech.

The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.

The Lord has sworn an oath there is no retracting, Thou art a priest for ever in the line of Melchisedech.

Dominus a dextris tuis; confregit in die iræ suæ reges.

The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings in the day of his wrath.

At thy right hand, the Lord will beat down kings in the day of his vengeance;

Judicabit in nationibus, implebit ruinas; conquassabit capita in terra multorum.

He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: he shall crush the heads in the land of many.

he will pass sentence on the nations, heap high the bodies, scatter far and wide the heads of the slain.

De torrente in via bibet; propterea exaltabit caput.

He shall drink of the torrent in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

Let him but drink of the brook by the wayside, he will lift up his head in victory.
