Praise in the way of a canticle, for David himself, on the day before the sabbath, when the earth was founded. |
Laus cantici ipsi David, in die ante sabbatum, quando fundata est terra. |
								|
1 The Lord hath reigned, he is clothed with beauty: the Lord is clothed with strength, and hath girded himself. For he hath established the world which shall not be moved. |
1 Dominus regnavit, decorem indutus est: indutus est Dominus fortitudinem, et præcinxit se. Etenim firmavit orbem terræ, qui non commovebitur. |
1 The Lord reigns as king, robed in majesty; royalty the Lord has for robe and girdle. He it was that founded the solid earth, to abide immovable. |

2 Thy throne is prepared from of old: thou art from everlasting. |
2 Parata sedes tua ex tunc; a sæculo tu es. |
2 Firm stood thy throne ere ever the world began; from all eternity, thou art. |

3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord: the floods have lifted up their voice. The floods have lifted up their waves, |
3 Elevaverunt flumina, Domine, elevaverunt flumina vocem suam; elevaverunt flumina fluctus suos, |
3 Loud the rivers echo, Lord, loud the rivers echo, crashing down in flood. |

4 with the noise of many waters. Wonderful are the surges of the sea: wonderful is the Lord on high. |
4 a vocibus aquarum multarum. Mirabiles elationes maris; mirabilis in altis Dominus. |
4 Magnificent the roar of eddying waters; magnificent the sea’s rage; magnificent above these, the Lord reigns in heaven. |

5 Thy testimonies are become exceedingly credible: holiness becometh thy house, O Lord, unto length of days. |
5 Testimonia tua credibilia facta sunt nimis; domum tuam decet sanctitudo, Domine, in longitudinem dierum. |
5 How faithful, Lord, are thy promises! Holy is thy house, and must needs be holy until the end of time. |
