Psalm 15
|
Vulgate><Douay-Rheims><Knox Bible
1
Tituli inscriptio, ipsi David.
Conserva me, Domine, quoniam speravi in te.
1
The inscription of a title to David himself.
Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put my trust in thee.
1
(A miktam. Of David.)
Keep me safe, Lord; I put my trust in thee.
2
Dixi Domino: Deus meus es tu, quoniam bonorum meorum non eges.
2
I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods.
2
The Lord, whom I own as my God, confess that in him is all my good!
3
3
To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.
3
There are faithful souls in this land of his; wondrous delight he gives me in their companionship.
4
4
Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.
4
What do they do but lay up fresh store of sorrows, that betake themselves to alien gods? Not with these will I pour out the blood of sacrifice; I will not take forbidden names on my lips.
5
Dominus pars hæreditatis meæ, et calicis mei: tu es qui restitues hæreditatem meam mihi.
5
The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.
5
No, it is the Lord I claim for my prize, the Lord who fills my cup; thou, and no other, wilt assure my inheritance to me.
6
Funes ceciderunt mihi in præclaris; etenim hæreditas mea præclara est mihi.
6
The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.
6
Portion is none were more to my liking; welcome the lot’s choice!
7
7
I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover, my reins also have corrected me even till night.
7
Blessed be the Lord, who schools me; late into the night my inmost thoughts chasten me.
8
Providebam Dominum in conspectu meo semper: quoniam a dextris est mihi, ne commovear.
8
I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved.
8
Always I can keep the Lord within sight; always he is at my right hand, to make me stand firm.
9
9
Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.
9
Glad and merry am I, heart and soul of me; my body, too, shall rest in confidence
10
Notas mihi fecisti vias vitæ; adimplebis me lætitia cum vultu tuo: delectationes in dextera tua usque in finem.
10
Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt thou give thy holy one to see corruption.
10
that thou wilt not leave my soul in the place of death, or allow thy faithful servant to see corruption.
11
Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.
11
Thou wilt shew me the way of life, make me full of gladness in thy presence; at thy right hand are delights that will endure for ever.
