1
In finem. Psalmus David.
1
Unto the end. A psalm for David.
1
(To the choir-master. A psalm. Of David.)
2
2
May the Lord hear thee in the day of tribulation: may the name of the God of Jacob protect thee.
2
The Lord listen to thee in thy time of need, the power of Jacob’s God be thy protection!
3
3
May he send thee help from the sanctuary: and defend thee out of Sion.
3
May he send thee aid from his holy place, watch over thee, there on mount Sion;
4
4
May he be mindful of all thy sacrifices: and may thy whole burnt offering be made fat.
4
may he remember all thy offerings, and find savour in thy burnt-sacrifice.
5
Tribuat tibi secundum cor tuum, et omne consilium tuum confirmet.
5
May he give thee according to thy own heart; and confirm all thy counsels.
5
May he grant thee what thy heart desires, crown thy hopes with fulfilment.
6
Lætabimur in salutari tuo; et in nomine Dei nostri magnificabimur.
6
We will rejoice in thy salvation; and in the name of our God we shall be exalted.
6
So may we rejoice at thy deliverance, rallied in the name of the Lord our God;
7
Impleat Dominus omnes petitiones tuas; nunc cognovi quoniam salvum fecit Dominus christum suum. Exaudiet illum de cælo sancto suo, in potentatibus salus dexteræ ejus.
7
The Lord fulfil all thy petitions: now have I known that the Lord hath saved his anointed. He will hear him from his holy heaven: the salvation of his right hand is in powers.
7
abundantly may he grant thy prayer. Shall I doubt that the Lord protects the king he has anointed, will listen to him from his sanctuary in heaven? Is not his right hand strong to save?
8
Hi in curribus, et hi in equis; nos autem in nomine Domini Dei nostri invocabimus.
8
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will call upon the name of the Lord our God.
8
Let others talk of horses and chariots; our refuge is the name of the Lord our God.
9
9
They are bound, and have fallen; but we are risen, and are set upright. O Lord, save the king: and hear us in the day that we shall call upon thee.
9
Stumbled and fallen they, while we stand firm on our feet.
10
10
O Lord, save the king, and hear us in the hour when we call upon thee.
