Exaudi, Domine, justitiam meam; intende deprecationem meam. Auribus percipe orationem meam, non in labiis dolosis.

The prayer of David.
Hear, O Lord, my justice: attend to my supplication. Give ear unto my prayer, which proceedeth not from deceitful lips.

(A prayer. Of David.)
Lord, to my just complaint give ear; do not spurn my cry for aid. Listen to this prayer of mine; they are no treacherous lips that make it.

De vultu tuo judicium meum prodeat; oculi tui videant æquitates.

Let my judgment come forth from thy countenance: let thy eyes behold the things that are equitable.

At thy judgement seat I claim award; unerring thy scrutiny.

Probasti cor meum, et visitasti nocte; igne me examinasti, et non est inventa in me iniquitas.

Thou hast proved my heart, and visited it by night, thou hast tried me by fire: and iniquity hath not been found in me.

Wilt thou read my heart, drawing near in the darkness to test me as if by fire, thou wilt find no treachery in me.

Ut non loquatur os meum opera hominum: propter verba labiorum tuorum, ego custodivi vias duras.

That my mouth may not speak the works of men: for the sake of the words of thy lips, I have kept hard ways.

Never have these lips been led astray by man’s evil example; still to thy law’s pattern thy warnings kept me true;

Perfice gressus meos in semitis tuis, ut non moveantur vestigia mea.

Perfect thou my goings in thy paths: that my footsteps be not moved.

still in thy paths my steps were firmly planted, my feet did not stumble.

Ego clamavi, quoniam exaudisti me, Deus; inclina aurem tuam mihi, et exaudi verba mea.

I have cried to thee, for thou, O God, hast heard me: O incline thy ear unto me, and hear my words.

And now I cry to thee, the God who ever hearest me; turn thy ear towards me, and listen to my plea.

Mirifica misericordias tuas, qui salvos facis sperantes in te.

Shew forth thy wonderful mercies; thou who savest them that trust in thee.

Thy mercy, thy signal mercy shew; none ever sought sanctuary at thy right hand in vain.

A resistentibus dexteræ tuæ custodi me ut pupillam oculi. Sub umbra alarum tuarum protege me

From them that resist thy right hand keep me, as the apple of thy eye. Protect me under the shadow of thy wings.

Protect me as thou wouldst the apple of thy own eye; hide me under the shelter of thy wings,

a facie impiorum qui me afflixerunt. Inimici mei animam meam circumdederunt;

From the face of the wicked who have afflicted me. My enemies have surrounded my soul:

safe from the evil-doers who wrong me.See how my enemies close about me mercilessly,

adipem suum concluserunt: os eorum locutum est superbiam.

they have shut up their fat: their mouth hath spoken proudly.

their hearts shut to pity, a boast on their lips!

Projicientes me nunc circumdederunt me; oculos suos statuerunt declinare in terram.

They have cast me forth and now they have surrounded me: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth.

Even now their stealthy tread closes in on me, as they watch their opportunity to bring me down;

Susceperunt me sicut leo paratus ad prædam, et sicut catulus leonis habitans in abditis.

They have taken me, as a lion prepared for the prey; and as a young lion dwelling in secret places.

treacherous as a lion that is eager for its prey, a young lion that waits hidden in its lair.

Exsurge, Domine: præveni eum, et supplanta eum: eripe animam meam ab impio; frameam tuam

Arise, O Lord, disappoint him and supplant him; deliver my soul from the wicked one: thy sword

Bestir thyself, Lord; forestall him and throw him to the ground; bare thy sword, and save me from the evil-doer,

ab inimicis manus tuæ. Domine, a paucis de terra divide eos in vita eorum; de absconditis tuis adimpletus est venter eorum. Saturati sunt filiis, et dimiserunt reliquias suas parvulis suis.

from the enemies of thy hand. O Lord, divide them from the few of the earth in their life: their belly is filled from thy hidden stores. They are full of children: and they have left to their little ones the rest of their substance.

raise thy hand, to rescue me from the hands of mortal men! Mortal men indeed, that have all their portion here on earth; whose desires thou dost satisfy with treasures from thy store, so that their children, too, live in abundance, and leave riches for new heirs to enjoy.

Ego autem in justitia apparebo conspectui tuo; satiabor cum apparuerit gloria tua.

But as for me, I will appear before thy sight in justice: I shall be satisfied when thy glory shall appear.

As for me, I will come with upright heart into thy presence, and when I wake up, I shall be well content with thy likeness.
