Psalm 25
|
Vulgate><Douay-Rheims><Knox Bible
1
In finem. Psalmus David.
Judica me, Domine, quoniam ego in innocentia mea ingressus sum, et in Domino sperans non infirmabor.
1
Unto the end, a psalm for David.
Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my innocence: and I have put my trust in the Lord, and shall not be weakened.
1
(Of David.)
Lord, be thou my judge; have I not guided my steps clear of wrong? Have I trusted in the Lord, only to stumble on my path?
2
Proba me, Domine, et tenta me; ure renes meos et cor meum.
2
Prove me, O Lord, and try me; burn my reins and my heart.
2
Test me, Lord, put me to the proof; assay my inmost desires and thoughts.
3
Quoniam misericordia tua ante oculos meos est, et complacui in veritate tua.
3
For thy mercy is before my eyes; and I am well pleased with thy truth.
3
Ever I keep thy mercies in mind, ever thy faithfulness bears me company.
4
4
I have not sat with the council of vanity: neither will I go in with the doers of unjust things.
4
I have not consorted with false men, or joined in plotting evil;
5
5
I have hated the assembly of the malignant; and with the wicked I will not sit.
5
I have shunned the company of the wicked, never sat at my ease with sinners.
6
6
I will wash my hands among the innocent; and will compass thy altar, O Lord:
6
With the pure in heart I will wash my hands clean, and take my place among them at thy altar,
7
7
That I may hear the voice of thy praise: and tell of all thy wondrous works.
7
there making thy praises known, telling the story of all thy wonderful deeds.
8
Domine, dilexi decorem domus tuæ, et locum habitationis gloriæ tuæ.
8
I have loved, O Lord, the beauty of thy house; and the place where thy glory dwelleth.
8
How well, Lord, I love the house where thou dwellest, the shrine of thy glory!
9
9
Take not away my soul, O God, with the wicked: nor my life with bloody men:
9
Lord, never count this soul for lost with the wicked, this life among the blood-thirsty;
10
10
In whose hands are iniquities: their right hand is filled with gifts.
10
hands ever stained with guilt, palms ever itching for a bribe!
11
Ego autem in innocentia mea ingressus sum; redime me, et miserere mei.
11
But as for me, I have walked in my innocence: redeem me, and have mercy on me.
11
Be it mine to guide my steps clear of wrong; deliver me in thy mercy.
12
Pes meus stetit in directo; in ecclesiis benedicam te, Domine.
12
My foot hath stood in the direct way: in the churches I will bless thee, O Lord.
12
On sure ground my feet are set; where his people gather I will join in blessing the Lord’s name.
